Yet for all the Pegoretti, Moots, Parlee and Pinarello custom built bikes he regularly rides, we can’t help but wish that el jefe wouldn’t have gotten rid of his Yeti Ultimate with elevated chainstays and Campy Record OR components (god bless John Parker). A rider/mechanic for no less than 25 years (even during the decade that he was sporting a green beret for Uncle Sam), there’s probably nobody in the world more enamored with Assos apparel than our fearless leader: he makes annual trips to Switzerland to kneel at the altar, has an ongoing conversation with the heads of the company and regularly rides in a pair of 1980’s vintage arm warmers (they look better than you’d think!) A curious fact about this native of Seattle is that, while he may seem to be perpetually on his fifth or sixth double espresso, he doesn’t touch the stuff—he’s just naturally caffeinated. Go figure!
