Choosing the Right Parts Clearly we’re not afraid to take a stand. When it comes to clothing, we’ve chosen to only sell Assos because we’ve not found any other brand that can match their dedication to quality and innovation. With components it’s a little trickier.
In our heart we’re absolutely dedicated to Campagnolo. We’ve ridden and worked on Campagnolo for decades. We stuck with them through the bad days of the late 1980’s/early 1990’s (remember Syncro shifting?). We’ve been to the factory and had our say. We’ve pulled open countless bottles of wine with their famed openers. For us, as with many of you we suspect, Campagnolo is way more than just a bicycle parts manufacturer. Our passion for Campagnolo has reached a greater pitch than ever before thanks to the introduction of the Super Record 11-Speed Group last year.
Still, we find it impossible not to keep our eye on a whole lot of things that SRAM and Shimano are doing these days. It’s impossible not to feel good about SRAM’s new Red kit (especially after a few thousand miles on one) and, for what they lack in marketing savvy, anyone that has ridden a new Shimano Di2 equipped-bike can tell you that Shimano has more than continued to keep the pace of innovation.
Bottom line for us on component selection: Like a bicycle frame itself, it’s something best decided on a case-by-case basis. We insist on working closely with all of our clients so that we can connect them with just the right set-up for their personality, riding style and favored terrain. Stop by or give us a call and we’ll take the time to figure out exactly what’s best for you.
