Considered by many to be one of the finest American titanium framebuilders, Mosaic Cycle’s flagship road racer and crown jewel is modestly known as the RT-1. A raw assemblage of titanium, it’s where head welder Aaron Barcheck and company have pulled out all the stops from their hermitage in Boulder, Colorado. Designed for timeless durability in all conditions, the RT-1 is a perennial favorite at Above Category as a showcase of bespoke precision domestic manufacturing with relatively rapid availability (approximately eight weeks for a raw-finished frameset).
The RT-1 begins life as a 3/2.5 titanium tubeset, after which the front triangle is custom-butted by Mosaic for the rider – a step many other Ti builders don’t bother with (one of the only others is Baum). Why? Weight. And ride. Mated to an oversized 44mm headtube that an ENVE 2.0 fork slides into, the RT-1’s front-end can be built as stiff as even the most stout of carbon bikes. Just as well, the rear triangle of the RT-1 is rock-solid, with massive chainstays giving it an instant, drive-by-wire acceleration feel. Internal brake routing is standard on the RT-1, and the new T47 threaded bottom bracket shell is also available as a no-cost option. The RT-1 is also available as a disc brake-equipped bicycle with flatmount disc tabs at no extra charge. All of Mosaic’s raw Ti finish options are available, with standard paint schemes also an option for a small upcharge. Full-custom paint and design consultation for the RT-1 is also available.

The Twelve Days of Breathtaking Builds: Day Ten
The Twelve Days of Breathtaking Builds approaches its conclusion with Mosaic's flagship road bike - the titanium RT-1 - dressed in Canadian crimson splendor, courtesy of Toronto's VeloColour paint studio. North American talent coming together under one concrete roof never looked so stunning.
The Twelve Days of Breathtaking Builds: Day Seven
Until now, all of the bicycles we've presented in the Twelve Days of Breathtaking Builds have been splattered with a vast array of stunning paint schemes, from the classic to the bombastic. Day Seven's build, on the other hand, is a contrast-laden quintessential raw titanium bike. Mosaic's RT-1 is bedecked in black carbon, courtesy of our friends at SRAM, fi'zi:k, and Zipp; while wireless shifting, wheels inspired by whales, and an all-Italian cockpit round it out as the Twelve Days gets over the hump.
Bike of the Week: Fifty Shades of Grey

Titivated Spartan: A Painted Mosaic RT-1
Mosaic's titanium frames are known to be spartan. Purely functional raw, etched metal, with one purpose: performance. They are the quintessential beauty of form following function. But with this crimson-hued RT-1, we'd like to change all that.
BOTW: Palicci's Mosaic RT-1 Disc
This bike of the week is another handmade beauty from our friends in Boulder, Colorado, a Mosaic RT-1 Disc. This bike was conceived after a long year of heavy rain and stacked training schedules in the Bay Area. The idea was to create a bike that that would offer a smooth ride, stand the test of elements (and El Niño), brake well in the wet, have enough clearance for some bigger tires, all while having the right weight, stiffness, and geometry to be considered a competitive road racing bike.
Bike of the Week: John's eTap Mosaic RT-1
Each day we deliver a Mosaic RT-1 is an exciting one, but what makes those days even better is when our out-of-town clients make the trip to San Francisco, where we share the pleasure of taking them on their inaugural ride while experiencing all of our favorite coastal roads. Case in point? This Bike of the Week.
