Bike of the Week: A Tri-Paneled Titanium Road Machine

by Above Category Collaborator |  |

One thing we'll never tire of is a handcrafted titanium machine.  Last week we shared a stunning refresh on an well loved ti bike, and this week our love continues with something brand new. A colorful Mosaic RT-1d, destined to scale the Northern California hills of Berkeley and Marin alike.

Custom Ti Made Just Right

The RT-1 has been one of our favorite road platforms for quite some time. Hand built from premium titanium with custom geometry, rider specific butted main tubes, and top notch craftsmanship. Together yielding incredible ride experience. This one here is configured with external cable guides for silky smooth sifting and is covered in Mosaic's tri-panel paint finish. A King headset, threaded bottom bracket, and room for 30s are a recipe for years of smooth sailing.

The Power of Ergopower

There's no denying our love for Campagnolo, especially when it comes to mechanical shifting on road bikes. This rig is equipped with Super Record through and through. 175mm cranks with mountain climber gearing—50/34t rings with an 11-32t cassette out back. 160mm AFS rotors front and back keep speeds in check. We love that Campagnolo builds their calipers specific to rotor size, eliminating the need for adapter plates.

An Italian-American Cockpit

The contact points are a blend of Enve and Fizik, a common pairing around our shop. Enve's carbon pieces perfectly balance light weight with incredible vibration damping comfort. A 120mm stem and 440mm compact bar up front with a set back post at the rear. The bars are wrapped in comfy yet tacky Fizik Bondcush tape and the post is topped with an Arione R1 saddle.

Rolling on 30s

And what does it roll on? A set of Enve 3.4 ARs. One the most practical options in the AR line up for our hilly bay-area terrain. The 3.4s offer ample aero advantage while still being lightweight, and without too much fuss in heavy crosswinds. They also pair perfectly with wide rubber, like the 30c Vittoria Corsa Controls mounted here. Fast, smooth, and tons of grip!

Mosaic, Campagnolo, Enve—a combination that always results in a masterpiece. This resulting build is as versatile as it is beautiful, and is sure to spark joy for years to come. We're proud to have helped bring this rider's vision to life. Is a rig like this up your alley? Give us a shout as we'd be thrilled to help you out!
