There are few brands or framebuilders who we share as deep of a history with as Dario Pegoretti. We truly enjoy every Peg that we get a chance to build, but it's even more special when it's one of the last of a particular model he'll every build, and done up in the limited Above Category paint job. This week we bring you an AC custom Love #3, from the last batch of Love #3s to ever be built.
The Love #3
Big welds on scandium tubes, a trademark of the Love #3 and something you don't see too often these days. Back when Dario sponsored our race team, some of the squad rode on L3s and it's a bit sad for us to know this is one of the last to ever be produced. That said, we couldn't think of a better one than this with the paint scheme Dario crafted just for us.
A mechanical Dura-Ace group keeps this bike running. Dario doesn't make bikes with internal routing for electronic groups, so if you want to run Shimano, mechanical is the way to go. The new black finish has a nice contrast to the bight white and colors throughout the rest of the bike.
We built up a very nice set of custom hoops for this one. Chris King R45s laced up to Corima 32 WS rims. 2x front and rear on Sapim CX rays keeps things stiff and solid. Of course we wrapped things up in our favorite all around road tire, the Vittoria Corsa G+ with tan sidewalls.
Deep red was our highlight color of choice. The Chris King Hubs, CeramicSpeed bottom bracket, and anodized bottle cage bolts all come together to add a nice touch.
We hope you've enjoyed this week's featured bike.
