Bike of the Week: A Purple to Green Mosaic All-Roader

Derek Yarra |

This week we share our latest creation in partnership with our Boulder-based frame builders, Mosaic -  a fast, capable and custom-built GT titanium gravel bike, equally optimized time on the road and the dirt.

The purple to green ombré finish is stunningly executed on this bike. But while the paint takes the spotlight, let's not forget the beauty in the titanium frame that lies beneath, which was designed to meet the rider's smaller stature with custom-tuned geometry and hand-selected tubing. In keeping with the all-road vibe, for the front fork we went with the Enve - you guessed it - all-road model to keep things a little lighter and tighter.

The bike's drivetrain is full Shimano, but a unique mix across lines. We used GRX for the levers and brakes, taking advantage of their extra security on the hoods and for the Servo-Wave braking performance. There's also a GRX Di2 rear derailleur and 11-34t cassette. Unfortunately, a 165mm crank in the GRX suite doesn't yet exist, nor is there a powe rmeter option. So we went Dura-Ace with compact rings, and matched it with an Ultegra front derailleur.

For wheels, we selected a set of Enve G23s for their lightweight, wide inner width, and rugged durability, and laced them to a set of Chris King R45 hubs. Again, as an all-roader, a high volume slick tire was in order. In this case, a Panaracer  Gravel King slick in 32. The green valve nuts on the Orange Seals valves are the perfect finishing touch.

Finishing out the build is an Enve carbon cockpit, with bars wrapped in Fizik 3mm tape and seatpost topped with the new Cadex carbon saddle.

This Mosaic sure is a great example of custom titanium done right. This one is heading back out to Boulder, CO for a sweet life spent soaking up front range climbs and farm roads.

And don't be surprised if this bike looks a little familiar... It shares a striking resemblance to Derek's GT1 we built earlier this year.
