DAY SIX: BRITISH RACING GREEN GETS DIRTY
Baum Cycles, as a builder, is known primarily for their road bikes, and we're more than okay with that. Little known fact? They also build a stunning mountain bike, the Extensa. The singletrack-going sibling to the Corretto, every so often we get the chance to put one together - in classic Above Category style. Day Six of the Twelve Days of Breathtaking builds is just that, a British Racing Green Extensa that makes even the most tarmac-obsessed of us drool. Built in pure cross-country livery, it left us back in the summer - but it left such an indelible mark on us that we felt it needed to grace the Twelve Days.
One of our favorite suspension forks gets looks to kill - a paint-matched Rockshox RS-1 absorbs impacts up front with aplomb.
SRAM's venerable XX1 drivetrain does gear-changing duty, and the carbon cranks spin on a CeramicSpeed BB.
We could happily stare into the British Racing Green basecoat for hours. Perfectly applied and incredibly durable, it's another hallmark of Baum's obsessive-compulsive attention to detail.
ENVE's M50 rims remain our go-to for XC hoops - light, durable, and made in the United States.
And finally, an ENVE flat bar with custom-painted stem and post round out the stunning build from Down Under.
Knobby tires not your thing? Don't fret - tomorrow's build takes us back to pure, unadulterated road, with a distinctly North American flair. Day Seven approaches.
