The Build Process
Every singe build to come through our workshop happens from the ground up. Passing through the hands of our expert service manager, each and every detail goes under extreme scrutiny.
GT-1 frame details
We've built quite a few GT-1s at this point but we're really excited to have more of the "45" versions come through. Butted main tubes, precision welds, curvy stays—everything we love about the all-road version but with room for fatter rubber. Bigger tires for heavier terrain makes these bikes more fun than ever. As you can see, this one was built exclusively for wireless shifting. The lack of braze ons and internal brake routing lead to an especially clean look. We've really be loving the Knockout paint, and this oak green color is one of the nicest we've seen!
This bike gets a full on Enve treatment, custom painted for a clean and complete look. Not all carbon is created equal, and there's something truly special about the Enve cockpit and how magically it smooths out vibrations over even the roughest terrain. This build sees a set-back seat post, 100mm stem, and the full flared G-Series handle bar. The bars are wrapped in black Enve tape while the post is topped with a Fizik Arione 00 VS Evo saddle.
Big adventures call for a big gear range, so naturally we outfitted this bike with a Sram AXS Mullet system. There's nearly no situation the 10-52t cassette won't get you out of, and for most riders we've found the 42t ring to be great companion. We set this one up with a Quarq Red power meter to gauge efforts over big mountains and on long days. The Red levers and calipers offer plenty of braking control, especially paired with a set of 160mm rotors. Ultimately we found the rainbow chain and cassette to sit quite nicely against the hues of the oak green paint and bare titnaium.
On builds like these, it's always a toss up whether to go with an ultra smooth and compliant wheel like a G23 or a faster aero wheel like a 3.4AR. We decided to go with the 3.4ARs here, leaving room to add a pair of 650b with bigger tires as an alternate down the road. The 3.4 is a valiant gravel choice given its wide cross section and excellent acceleration. We wrapped these up in René Hersse 700x42 Hurricane Ridge tires, standard casing.
Wrapping it all up the bike is complete with a Chris King headset, a Ceamicspeed bottom bracket, and lastly our Silca X AC titanium bottle cages. Solid, reliable details to ensure top performance for the long haul.
Having put ample time on our own GT-1 45s, we can proudly assure you that this bike will absolutely rip. Immaculate construction, the signature ride of custom ti, and the alluring sage green make this bike an instant classic. Combined with the blissful performance and broad versatility of the Sram Mullet drivetrain and Enve AR wheels, this build is nothing short of dirty adventure perfection.
