BOTW: A Satin Sarto Seta Plus

Derek Yarra |

It's a new year and the shop has already been bustling with some out of this world builds. Road, gravel, mountain—it's all been going down here in the AC headquarters, and we're excited to share our first featured build of 2020. Emerging from all that hustle is this satin Sarto Seta Plus. A custom carbon all-road machine, built in Italy, for a Texas-based rider.

The Seta Plus platform might be our favorite from Venice based Sarto. It's truly embodies the contemporary road bike. Light weight, well balanced handling mannerisms, tire clearance to moonlight as a gravel racer, and absolutely clean look with its fully integrated cable routing.

This particular sample was made extra special with the help from our friends at Velocolour. A satin navy base, accented by bright blue highlights, and finished off with an interior halftone fade to pink at either end.

A marquee feature of the Seta Plus is the fully integrated cable routing. The disc hosing and Di2 e-tubes are all neatly routed through the Ursus carbon handlebar and stem, and ultimately into the frame. Both of which are paint matched to the frame and wrapped in 2mm Fizik tacky tape.

The seat post is also supplied by Ursus and holds onto a Cadex carbon saddle, which we've been rather impressed with.

The drivetrain is a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 kit. Mid compact rings, paired with an 11-28t cassette. The crank is of the watt-metering variety and spins on a Ceramicspeed bottom bracket. The rear derailleur is Ceramicspeed equipped as well.

campagnolo bora 45 wto

There are many people out there who throw a fit around mixing and matching major component brands. We're not such people. For wheels on this build, we went with the Campagnolo Bora WTO. In our opinion, a big improvement over previous generation Bora while maintaining the legendary smoothness of CULT bearings. The 45mm is the perfect depth for our rider's Texas terrain. The WTO models are also now tubeless compatible, making them a perfect match to the latest Continental GP5000 tires.

A bit unusual, sure. But building unique custom bikes is what we're all about. We're loving how this one turned out. Typically, we need to send bikes out to their final destination before getting feedback on how they're riding, but in this case our rider made the trip here to take the the roads of Marin for the bike's maiden voyage. Based on his smile above the Golden Gate Bridge, it's safe to say that New Bike Day was a success.
